French Government Subsidy for Smart Heating Controls

France has called on the public to curb energy consumption and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. With an eye toward reducing its CO2 footprint, the French government has allocated funds to support various sustainability projects, particularly aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and promoting sustainability in buildings.

Central to France's efforts is the implementation of the Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS), initially introduced as a national decree and later adopted at the EU level. In 2020, France introduced the Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) decree in alignment with the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). This decree mandates the installation of individual room temperature controls for new heating or cooling systems and when heat generators are replaced, focusing on enhancing energy efficiency and optimizing comfort levels.

Part of the funding provided by the government supports the installation of programmable smart thermostats, such as the Smart Radiator Thermostat, Fil Pilot Thermostat WIFI. These devices are instrumental in reducing energy consumption and lowering individual energy bills by allowing precise control over room temperatures and scheduling heating cycles based on APP Remote Control.

The subsidy program encompasses the purchase and installation of programmable smart thermostats on both new and existing individual heating systems. These thermostats are required to meet specific standards outlined in the standardized operation sheet NF EN ISO 52120-1, EN 12098-1, EN 12098-3

, ensuring compliance with regulations for room-by-room time programming. For electric heater thermostat, it’s at least four pilot modes as needed: comfort, economy, frost protection, and off.
