It’s stronger when you have a large project with equipment from multiple brands (such as Siemens, Honeywell, or Schneider). It offers better interoperability, meaning the Building Management System (BMS) can “see” and self-discover devices more easily. However, it usually takes more time and technical effort to set up properly. Modbus RTU Thermostat is simpler and more cost-effective to implement. A lot of integrators and smaller projects prefer it because you can get the system up and running faster. The downside is that it requires more manual work for register mapping—it’s not as “plug-and-play” as BACnet when mixing different manufacturers.   How to Choose Based on Your Project Scale In real projects, I’ve seen many cases where people chose BACnet for big hotel or office building projects because they needed reliable, multi-vendor integration.
